Genetic makeup is a subset of pedigree. Pedigree is not the actual
blueprint--it is the set of possibilities. If the ancestors had the traits
(and hence the genes) you want, the offspring MIGHT get them. If the
ancestors didn't have them, then the offspring DARN SURE won't get them! And
no matter WHAT the offspring end up with, it came from SOMEWHERE in the
pedigree--unless it came from Mars, of course. The only people who are
surprised by the traits of the offspring are those that are less than
knowledgeable (or less than honest) about the traits of the ancestors. And
once again, "traits" are not synoymous with fame--no amount of advertising or
glossy photos can alter what those ancestors really are--or aren't.
