TV and Web Coverage

GulfNews report

Well, right now on DubaiTV, there is complete coverage of Jerez 2002! It's been pretty much non-stop endurance coverage of one sort or another on the local TV scene since we got here. The local events are fully covered in the news and on radio/tv - so it's not too great a surprise that ----
It was announce last evening at the press conference that there will be complete, Live, video coverage of the event on the 27th. The coverage will be provided by DubaiTV personnel with multiple camera crews being active. Air and ground crews will be used.

The video will feed directly into the local DubaiTV distribution network. This includes up-links to 1 geoStationary satellite. There is currently no information concerning scheduled coverage on major distribution networks. The feed will made freely available to all organizations which may wish to include it in their programming schedule.

In addition to the distribution of the video through TV channels, the video feed will also be available through the Internet as a streaming video. The link to the race video will be provided at a later date, through the www.emiratesendurance.com web site. When we find out what it is, we will pass that info on along to you all.

The race starts at 6am local time. This translates into a 9 hour time difference to the US east coast - and a 9:00pm Wednesday (EST) start of the event in north America.

As mentioned above, we will keep you posted on the webCast. You will have to check your local listings for any TV shows that will include the video feeds from the Satellite (of course, we'll let you know if we hear anything along those lines).

So, yes, there will be TV coverage, but now that I have your attention, there was a great gathering at the Endurance City last night. Steph and I went straight from the press conference to the Bab al Shams to attend. It was an incredibly good initiation of the facility which will normally be used to provide entertainment for the guests of the hotel. Last night, it was turned into the ultimate endurance party as members of all teams were feasted. The final toDo before the whole competition opens to the public upon the opening ceremonies.

So the entire international endurance community was there. We saw people from all over - people we'd met years ago and lost track of - people we met for the first time! A full meal - dancing to live music. An international Latin/Salsa band interspersed with sets of traditional Arabic music and dancing. The true international spirit and friendship of endurance riders!

I'll just inclose a collection of candid moments from the evening to give you the flavor of the event!!
