U.S. Equestrian will host an FEI Endurance Stewards Course on February 25, 2004 at the Silver Legacy Hotel. Course Directors are Anne Ayala and Robin Oscar. The course will begin promptly at 8:00 am on Wednesday, February 24 and conclude with a written exam at approximately 8:00 pm. For more information or to request a course application, please contact Lynn McCoy, Director of NGB / FEI Services at U.S. Equestrian Federation, 859-225-2020 or (908) 234-0848
The course will present an overview of FEI stewarding procedures and rules and how they meld with dual sanctioned AERC/FEI competitions, offer training in skills important to effective stewarding, clarify areas of responsibility between Stewards, other officials (Chief Steward, Veterinary, Ground Jury, and Technical Delegate), and Ride Management, and offer practical advice on what a Steward does. The material will cover functions in which a Steward may be involved (timing, pulse area, finish line, emergency, drug testing, media) at various levels of competition, including Regional/World Championships, and will give participants certification in the basic course needed to apply for licensing as an Endurance Steward.
