Revran Playboy was one of the last horses bred by Constance Swatsley. Due to her advancing age, he was not even halter broken until we acquired him at age 14. Although he has not competed in endurance, we did have him started under saddle as a part of his basic education and to satisfy ourselves that he had the mind and temperament that we expect in our program. He has turned out to be a very pleasant, good-natured horse. 'Playboy' is small in stature, as he was the survivor of twins. However, he is the product of very normal-sized parents, and we expect him to sire bigger than he is. He has outstanding legs and feet. He is the last producing son of his famous sire, FARLOWA. We are expecting his first foal in 1998.
Aub Ben Surrabu (Junior) was bred by and has been owned by Heidi all of his life. He started a successful endurance career early that was cut short by Heidi's own knee injury. During his time off, he went back to the ranch in Idaho and spent several summers as a working ranch horse. He came back to compete successfully again; in 1994, he was the PNER High Mileage Stallion and was 3rd in the AERC Jim Jones standings; in 1995 (ridden by 5 different riders, including 2 junior riders), he was the PNER Overall High Mileage Horse (only time ever earned by a stallion), as well as High Mileage Stallion, 2nd place Junior Division with Lindsay Westergard, and 3rd in the AERC Jim Jones standings. He continues to compete as our time allows. 'Junior' is our premier trail-marking horse, pack horse, etc., and can be ridden by just about anybody. He is a solid horse with outstanding bone (almost 9" cannon circumference).
We acquired Aur Bold Tribute (Bo) in March of 1997, both as a breeding stallion and as a horse for Paul to ride. Although well broke, he had not previously competed in any competitive events, and he had spent several years without being ridden, used for breeding Pinto Half-Arabs at Spotlight Arabians in Monmouth, Oregon. He was bred by Lois Russell. 'Bo' has started off a promising endurance career this year, winning his first 30 miler, 5th on his second one, and then Top Ten in his first two 50's. At age 15, it has been a big adjustment to go to work, but he has demonstrated great recoveries, a terrific abilitly to take care of himself by eating and drinking everything in sight, and he has fallen in love with his new job. We are looking forward to his first crop of purebred foals in 1998 (he has only sired 2 purebreds previously, despite his tremendous success as a sire of winning halter and performance Pintos), as well as continuing his new endurance career. He is a horse to consider if you are looking for color and 'chrome' in your program while still maintaining quality conformation, disposition, and 'doing' ability.
Lawzonn is bred and owned by Claudia Provin of Dodd City, Texas. He comes to Sagehill Arabians on lease. We discovered his sire LAWMOSS while searching for horses with close-up crosses to FARANA. Lawmoss is the son of LAWSEYN, who has been a sire of several prominent endurance horses; he has just recently been discovered by other endurance breeders in Texas, and should have more offspring on the endurance circuit in a few years. To the best of our knowledge, Lawzonn is the only breeding representative of Lawseyn breeding here in the Northwest; he represents a tremendous opportunity for both CMK breeders and general endurance breeders in the area to add some outstanding bloodlines to your program. Lawzonn is a good-minded, large and well conformed colt. He is started under saddle and we hope to start his endurance career in 1998 while he is here.
