Hello there,
My name is Darlene Anderson, I ride a little Morab called FeatherB. A fellow
endurance rider and chiropractor by trade has one of these nifty tools. He
fitted my mare back in July at one of the rides. He told me my saddle was
bridging a bit over the loin and suggested I put in a shim (via a saddlemaker)
to remedy the misfit. Other than that my Bighorn was a good fit.
So , I have the work done by a friend of mine who is a saddle maker (and a
good one too!) She followed the specifications perfectly as prescribed by the
man with the gauge.
WELL, 6 months later now with winter in full swing, Feather has these ominous
looking white spots. One on her spine where I sit , oblong looking, and the
other two are about mid thigh on me, right about where my stirrup fenders
attatch to my saddle. Hmmm, I know the shape of a horse's back changes as
they get into better shape, but I am flumoxed over this one.
There is my experience. So my question is, is the gauge full of hooy, or has
my horse's back changed so much my saddle is now fitting badly? I did 50's all
last season with plans to do 75's next season. I am thinking I am in the
market for a new saddle. What a pain!
I'm looking forward to hearting other's experiences with the Saddle Tech
Gauge.
