For those of you who are coming from east of Oregon you will want to get on Highway 20 at Ontario, Oregon. Interstate 84 will get you to Ontario. Expect 250 miles of good road in about 5 hours with few services, especially if you are traveling at night. It's a good idea to top off your fuel tanks in Burns. The first full traffic light you meet in Bend is 27th street. Turn left (south) and go 3.5 miles. The road makes a sweeping right turn and heads you west. Go about 1/4 miles and Stevenson Ranch will be on the left.
The travelers coming from north (you know Washington and Canada) should just take I 84 to Biggs Junction (about mile post 100) and take highway 97 into Bend. If you are coming from the south then Knott Road will be the first exit you come to just before Bend. Take a right, go 3.5 miles and Stevenson Ranch is on the right.

We have received some more very generous donations of tack and horse accessories and we wish to recognize the following people.
Several fund raising projects have been started for the PAC. The Trask Mountian Challenge will be July 26, 1997 in Yamhill, OR. Naomi Tyler is offering a TTeam Clinic on May 17 in Vancouver, WA and May 18 in Eugene, OR. We look forward to these events. One which went of with a BANG was the PAC Benefit dinner in Everett WA. This was done by Bob Rawe and the Fish Creek Endurance Team. They had a fabulous dinner, wild dance and terrific auction. All together they netted $3400 for the PAC!!! THANK YOU BOB & CO!!!
The support of these people has been great! However we still need about $15,000 in cash yet to meet our budget so if you would like to make a donation please let me know.
Camping will be available on the grounds. There will be no camping charge for the rider, groom, chef d'quipe or team vet, however a camping pass will be required. There will be no charge for ride management volunteers. All others will be charged $10 per night or $35 for the whole event. We will have several tents available on a first reserved first served basis. "Tent Rent" begins at $15 per night, group rates available. For tent reservations please call Jan Canfield, day phone Pacific Time Zone (541-388-7344) email fred_jan@bendnet.com Prices will include shower passes!!! They will even have hot water!!
The trail is primarily on National Forest Lands so it is available for riding once the snow clears! Trail marking will begin September 2 but may not be completed until Official opening, September 8. Camping is available at a vet check on the trail. For more info contact Jan Canfield or Mike or Heidi.
Stay tuned in to this spot. As the event gets closer we will try to keep this sight current. We are looking forward to seeing you there.

The 1997 Pacific Northwest Endurance Rides Convention was very successful. The membership learned of our latest plans and of our progress. The organization of the event is progressing well. FEI has been very helpful and changed some rules which will eliminate about $30,000 from planned costs! Members are being very creative in getting things done efficiently at minimal cost. Many people asked what they could do to help and were signed up.
Money remains our biggest challenge. Around $1000 was generated in T-shirt and wormer sales and another $1000 was collected in cash donations. Looking to the future, several fund raisers were planned so it all is coming together. The level of participation is increasing so with your help we will easily raise the money.
The Trade Show is growing every day. Several of the companies at the PNER Convention committed themselves to being at the NAC. Several Central Oregon businesses have also confirmed their participation. We hope you will plan on coming to shop for "horsey stuff" as well as uniquely Oregon products. If you want to reserve a booth ($300) at the NAC please contact Gail Williams (509) 865-3246.
See you at AERC Convention.
