Owyhee Lowlands PAC Fundraiser Ride

 

Saturday November 16:  30,  50, 100 Miles

 

Dress warm, and come ride the Lowlands! All profits will be donated to the 2003 Pan American Championship to be held in September in Troutlake, Washington.

Basecamp: at our ranch outside of Oreana, Idaho . Horse water will be provided. Metal corrals available for $10/night , reservation or first-come basis, limited supply.

 

Trail:  Will be mostly flat or rolling 2-track, dirt road, some cross country. All holds and vet checks in camp. Will be good footing and easy night riding for 100 milers. Not much rock, some sand. Full Moon on Nov 19, should have plenty of moonlight to ride by, we’ll put out glowsticks too.

 

Weather: Average daily temperatures upper 40’s. Average night temps upper 30’s. Usually dry.  Dress warm! 10-day local forecast

 

Dinner & Awards: Potluck BREAKFAST and awards Sunday morning. We’ll supply coffee, muffins and campfire.

    Directions:

  • From I-84 West (Oregon) take exit 35 (Nampa Blvd, Hwy 55, Marsing), turn south off ramp onto Nampa Blvd. (towards Nampa). Turn left on 3rd St. and then follow signs to Hwy 45 to Murphy and Silver City. Turn Right onto Hwy 45 (12th) and continue through Nampa to the Snake River. Hwy 45 becomes Hwy 78 after crossing the Snake River. Go LEFT on Hwy 78 towards Murphy and Grandview. Stay on Hwy 78 approx. 23 miles. Turn right on Oreana Loop Rd. (past mile marker 42) Take first right past trailer houses onto gravel road (about 1.5 mi. from turnoff onto Oreana Loop Rd) Continue 4.5 miles to camp. Driving time from Nampa is about 1 hour.
  • From I-84 East (Utah/Wyoming) Take Exit 112 at Hammett. Follow signs to Hwy 78 West, towards Bruneau and Grandview. Continue west on 78 past Bruneau and Grandview (approx 50 miles), turn Left onto Oreana Loop Rd - paved road, just past mile marker 43. (don't take the gravel Oreana Loop Rd before this!)Take first right past trailer houses onto gravel road (about 1.5 mi. from turnoff onto Oreana Loop Rd) Continue 4.5 miles to camp.
  • OR if you're coming from Boise and want to avoid driving through Nampa: From I-84 East (Boise) take Nampa Exit 38, go left (south) off ramp. Go under freeway and turn Left at first stop-light, this road will then bend to the right and put you onto Happy Valley Rd. Follow Happy Valley Rd south for several miles, turn Right onto Bowmont Rd. Continue on Bowmont until you reach Hwy 45. Turn south on 45. Follow Hwy 45 to the Snake River. Hwy 45 becomes Hwy 78 after crossing the Snake River. Go LEFT on Hwy 78 towards Murphy and Grandview. Stay on Hwy 78 approx. 23 miles. Turn right on Oreana Loop Rd. (past mile marker 42) Take first right past trailer houses onto Bates Creek Rd.(about 1.5 mi. from turnoff onto Oreana Loop Rd) Continue 4.5 miles to camp.
  • From Hwy 95 (Nevada, California): continue north from Winnemucca, turn right on Hwy 55, then right on Marsing/Murphy Rd, this becomes Hwy 78. Follow 78 east along the Snake River, past Murphy. Turn right on Oreana Loop Rd. (past mile marker 42) Take first right past trailer houses onto gravel road (about 1.5 mi. from turnoff onto Oreana Loop Rd) Continue 4.5 miles to camp.
