2010 Portuguese Championship - Arraiolos, Portugal

The 2010 Portuguese Championship - CEI*** 160 km Open - Team Trophy will be held 15-18 April, 2010 at Monte da Ravasqueira estate, in the municipality of Arraiolos, Portugal.

In addition a CEI** 120 km and a CEI * 80 km will be held the same weekend.

Starting on the 15th of June 2010, the Alentejo Nations Cup in equestrian endurance is a Raid competition with a maximum distance of 160 km and a CEI*** category. Its Prize Money is a total of 75,000 Euros.

Decided over a predetermined route it follows roads and pathways that may include natural obstacles. The route is designed to challenge the speed and resistance of the horses with the knowledge and use of these skills by the rider.

The Monte da Ravasqueira estate, locatd in the municipality of Arraiolos, has been linked to the family Jose De Mello for several generations. The excellent geological conditions and the climate are well suited to the production of some of the best wine that the Alentejo has to offer. Monte da Ravasqueira is committed to the production of distinctive quality wines, while it is also engaged in a number of other activities involving the production of cork, olive oil and honey, as well as rearing fine cattle and breeding the Lusitanian horse.

In 1996, Monte da Ravasqueira organized and hosted its first Driving contest; it won the World Four-in-Hand Carriage Driving Championship.

In 2006, Monte da Ravasqueira hosted the 4th Iberian Driving Cup. The event was also a form of paying tribute to and promoting the Lusitano Horse.

Today, Monte da Ravasqueira is outstanding in the selection and marketing of working horses of proven quality in national and international Obstacle, Dressage and Carriage-driving contests.
