Patsy riding Hero in Christmas Parade with
Half-brother, Abraham, beside him
Greetings! We always look forward to keeping everyone updated on all our news for the year. We have lots of great news to share this year!

We started the year by having the ability to purchase the "Agnew Homeplace" which includes the house, barn and 71 acres. The purchase is an investment more than a personal venture and is owned in a partnership. We hope to be in a position in this coming year to move into the house and utilize the barn again. The other acres in-between our 40 acres and the 71 acres home place is still in litigation. We hope that more land is available in our near future.

We had the great pleasure of welcoming one of our babies home this year. "PW September Hero" was purchased as a weanling by Patsy Gowen of Rock Hill, SC. He came back this year as a 4yo for training. Patsy did a great job raising Hero and with his natural great temperament in his bloodlines he proved to be an extreme pleasure to work with. Patsy is now riding him on trail and even sent us this photo of her riding him in a Parade over Christmas! She hopes to have him in his first endurance ride this year. Our best wishes to her...We know the team will do great.

COMPETITION NEWS:

Gini & Triproof leaving camp on the
100 Mile Carolina Ride
Our competition year was fantastic. Gini and Seyvilla Triproof+\ earned their first-ever top-ten in the South East this year. It took over 4000 miles and 15 years but it finally happened. The team rode to several top-ten finishes and finished the year off with a top-ten 100 miler at Carolina. In addition, Triproof earned his "Legion of Supreme Honor" this year and did it in one year only…a lifetime achievement for most horses.
"BAF Cat Abu" was ridden to his 2nd finish by Florida rider, Carol Thompson at Liberty Run this past year. James hopes to start "Sonny" in 50 mile competitions this year.

We had an interesting milestone at the Carolina Moonlight ride this summer. Four horses that we currently or previously own either were entered in the ride. All four horses finished and all four finished in TOP TEN! Steve Boles and Tryx took 2nd and Best Condition. Theresa rode to a top-ten with Seyvilla DeBerry and Jr rider, Taylor Murphy rode RA Marata (21 yo mare!) to 7th place. Gini & Triproof placed 2nd in the 55 mile competition. It made us feel proud!

Steve Boles purchased Tryx his past year and has placed in top ten at least 3 times and Best Condition twice! Fantastic job Steve! Unfortunately, we understand that Steve has suffered an injury that will prevent him from riding for a few months. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see the team back on the trail VERY soon!

We also need to congratulate Stephannieanne Smith and "An Angels Chance" (Belesemo Chance X Rushcreek Quenby) on their top-ten finish at the Carolina ride. It was great to see Angel and how beautiful she has grown under the loving care and training of Stephanieanne. We hope to see more of them in the near future.

Congratulations are in order for Kathy & Geoff Tucker of West Palm Beach, FL on their purchase of "The First Chance" (Belesemo Chance X Redhaven Alizara). Otherwise known as "Nickolas". The lucky couple took possession of one of our nicest "do-everything" geldings. We hope they are enjoying all the wonderful things that Nick can do….from trail to show ring….What a fun horse.

More Congratulations for Leon Silber of Michigan on his purchase of Golden Lightning. Leon purchased Lightning to train him for the race track…and race he did! Lightning went on to win 2 races and placed in top-3 nearly every race. Golden Lightning was also honored with the title of "Reserve Champion Michigan Adult Horses". Wow! We hear rumors that Lightning will be "retired" from track racing and looking for an endurance home….if you are interested in a great horse that is trained to run please contact Gini by email: vamarie@bellsouth.net and she will hook you up.

WINNING! At the Track in Michigan

FINAL GOODBYES:

Torrey at Summer camp
with beginner student
We lost a great four-legged soul this year. Mastura…loving known as Torrey, passed away after a horrible bout of colic. Torrey was originally owned by Pat Thomas of Bronson, FL . Torrey was the "rock" of the farm's lesson program and was the kids favorite horse to ride. She could easily carry any child from walk/trot and into canter as well as being the "First Endurance Horse" for many kids (mine as well as Pat's) . She went to Hunter Pace's and the Show Ring with many Youth's. She is greatly missed.

BREEDING NEWS:

News from the breeding shed includes a pinto foal for the Galloway family in NC. This is their 2nd pinto foal from our stallion, "Belesemo Chance" and out of their mare, Suzy. They are also proud owners of "Fancy That Chance" another Pinto/Arabian cross that they are planning to compete this year. Look for them on the trail soon! Hey Keith & Liz…how about some photos?

We are still awaiting photos of Jonie & Dennis Brucker colt that was born this past year out of "Belesemo Chance". We think they will be breeding back for a 2007 foal as well.

Now - some REAL news! Endurance Rider, Anita Carlson leased her prize endurance mare, Rushcreek Quenby to us several years ago. With our agreement, she took Quenby back home in-foal to "Belesemo Chance"….her colt was born this past year. A BEAUTIFUL chestnut "Piebald" with blue eyes! WOW! With both parents DNA tested and the colt will be as well..how can AHA turn this down? What a special boy!

We are pleased to have several very special mares in for breeding this year….

Carol Thompson has brought SmokeRise Symbol (SEDRA Hall-Of-Fame 2005 & Top-ten mare) for a Chance foal in 2006. She currently has been checked in foal!

Theresa Carroll had her special top-ten mare in for breeding this past year but we'll need to work on re-breeding her this coming year. We look forward to working with Hurricane and getting that 2007 foal!

We know that several of you have "Chance" babies growing up…please keep us informed and send photos! We hope to have a "photo" area on our site soon and want to make sure everyone is included with updates!

In a lucky raffle, we were the winners of "Whitehaven Plantation" raffle for a free breeding to their young Paint stallion, "Old Apache Mist'. We are planning to bring "Belesema Jazzmina" for breeding this spring for our first-ever "Futurity" Pinto/Arabian foal in 2007! Gini is excited to enter the show ring with her first futurity foal. Looking for more good news regarding this!

FOAL NEWS:

Born this year out of two of our great foundation mares:

Market & Martika

"MARKET THE CHANCE" (Belesemo Chance X Belesema TA Martika) Chest Colt

Gaily & Whisper

"GAILA WHISPER" pending (Belesemo Chance X CD Gaily) Grey Filly Gaily & Whisper

No foals are planned for 2005 as we trim our herd (now at 35). At the same time that we are trimming our herd, we have several lease options available for anyone interested in our retired broodmares or older horses. Four horses found new homes in our lease program this year, Tyler, Aralon, Gem Gem and Rama. Let us know if you are interested in a "Free Lease".

White we are reducing the herd we are also choosing to keep many of our young horses since we have limited our breeding operations for a short time. If you ever wanted a "Chance" baby ... now is the time to get one, as they may not be available in the near future. Better yet ... bring your mare and raise your own. It is such a rewarding experience!

NEW TO THE FARM:

Joining our "family" this year:
Sahara Dahlia 12 yo AHA Mare…available for sale…a real sweetie and one of Gini's favorite horses….look for us in the show ring soon!

Shiek a 19yo AHA Gelding Thanks to friend, Theresa Bagwell for allowing us to lease this beautiful horse for the lesson program. Shiek has already been in the show ring this year with Taryn Lorey. He is a true blessing.

He is a treasure and the kids favorite to ride! Look for more on Kai in the near future as he enters the show arena with our young riders.
Ponies! Santana & Marquee….two precious ponies for the lesson program. Look for both of them in the show ring with students this year! Congratulations to Cindy Winter of Missouri the new owner of "Kodak Moment" we were able to work a deal together for Santana/Marquee & Kodak. I think everyone is happy.

endurance rider, Sarah Engsberg
We have several plans for the show ring this year. We hope to attend 3-4 "A" rates Arabian shows specifically showing "Sport Horse" classes. The plan is to introduce several of our young horses to the show ring and boost their value at the same time. The two horses destined for the "A" ring this year are: "Gemz Diamond Shiraz" (Belesemo Chance X Scoots Poco Gem) Arab/QH cross Filly "A Fine Lace" (Belesemo Chance X Gaila Breeze (by Seyvilla Bazaar) AHA Filly Both these fillies are available for sale "now"….we feel they are cream of the crop for the show world…if your looking for a "Sport Horse" type Arabian check them out now. …or wish you did later. We have several horses able to show this year. Seyvilla Triproof +\ & Oakmede Marquee will be doing some dressage tests. Belesema Baskolour will be going "English Pleasure" and might do some "hunter over fences" work. Sahara Dahlia (available for sale) will be showing as well. We hope to get some students involved in the Arabian Youth Program as well. Our goal is to have them show in-hand and ultimately attend the "Youth Jamboree in Ky this summer. OFF TO TEXAS….can you say…ROADTRIP !!

A final note... We are planning on attending the 2006 AERC convention being held in Texas this year. We are combining this trip with a family reunion in Houston/Galveston. Don't forget to purchase a raffle ticket to support the South East Endurance team….Agnew Farms will be donating a FREE breeding to your choice of our CMK-bred stallions! Mary Lynn Johnson was the proud winner of our last donation and together with Sarah Engsberg have a beautiful filly to show for it!

We hope to see all our Endurance Friends at the convention…all cleaned up! Until then or until 2007…..Blessings to all ….we hope to see you in our travels! James & Gini
