re:Pregnant Mare
Unless there is a specific reason that this particular mare should be
stalled 24hrs., I don't consider the fescue issue enough to restrict the
movement of a healthy pregnant mare for 24hrs.! If you feed her all the
non-fescue hay (have it available, always) and grain her sufficiently and
you also have limited growth in your pasture, I would have no problem
turning this mare out for 3-6 hours every day. I would feed her in the
stall and then put additional hay outside. If the mare was not at all
interested in the grass, I'd be likely to leave her out even longer.
