I just have one thing to say about this.  Please try to talk to
your friend about her 1 year old and the horses.  A couple of 
months ago I was visiting with my sister and her 7 month old who
was in the hospital (he had a seizure -- he's fine now) and his
roomate was a young boy (about 8ish) who's lesson horse spooked
while being untacked and managed to kick the kid in the head.  It
was not a good sight.  They were talking like they weren't sure
if the kid will ever see out of his right eye, and how many times
he'll have to under surgery to repair the damage was unknown at
the time.  The hoof caught the kid along the right half of the 
nose and over across the eye, forhead, checkbone.  And who knows
what kind of mental scars this is going to leave.
