We generally stop every 2 to 3 hours--stops are usually around 15 to 30
minutes, with an occasional longer one. Whether or not we take them out
depends entirely on what we are hauling and where we are going--if we are
hauling a bunch of barely halter-broke youngsters, they stay on for safety's
sake! If we are headed to a far-off ride with a good old broke campaigner, we
will get them off according to what our experience is with that horse's
needs--every stop, if necessary. It all depends on the horse and the
circumstances.
