Re: RC: Working heart rates and recoveries
Suzanne,
Terrific! Another Morgan rider in the SF Bay area. I have two Morgans I use
for endurance. Yes, they can run higher heart rates than Arabs. My 9 yr.old,
Wichita, runs 10-20 bpm higher than my 17 yr. old, Sonny. Sonny usually runs
the same as Arabs, except uphill - harder work. He takes 5-10 minutes to
reach criteria at vet checks. Wichita comes down very quickly -1-5 minutes.
Doing a good working trot or canter uphill, both top out over 200 bmp. A
little stress is a good thing. Just don't over do it. Go for it and enjoy!
