sweat patterns

Hi
I am trying a friends abetta saddle she wants to sell me, when I rode in
it and checked the sweat patterns, it had ripples on either side of the
withers, but no white hairs.  I have used it a couple of times and its
always the same.  Does any one know what this means?  I know the saddle
probably does not fit properly, but why?
Everything else appears normal and he is not sore.   Thanks for your
