Heidi, please, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe about 30 years ago 
Mathew Mackay-Smith proposed and used coastal hay soaked in corn oil. I don't 
have all the details but,  I would say high-fat diets have been around for 
quite a while and studies seem to indicate that it is beneficial. 

I think Howard was probably referring to the recent years band-wagon jump by 
feed companies to promote their new, balanced, improved fat supplements as 
opposed to adding your own corn, corn oil, or whatever.
