Moonlight ride

I trailered to the nearby Forest Service at 7PM on
Wednesday. The day had dawned with a light snow falling
-unfortunately none of it stayed around. But the sky was clear,
the moonlight intense, winds calm and not too cold. Met up with
Teri Somers on her 23 year old arab/paint (she too had trailered in). We
were both riding bareback. The horses were great-calm, confident-seeming to
really enjoy striding out on the wide, sandy trails. A couple of
times in the deeper woods I had a hard time seeing were the trail
went-but, since Fling knows them, just gave her her head and she
got us on the right tracks (Teri had not ridden that section of
the trails before). We had only one rural road crossing-no
problem there, especially since Fling literally seemed to glow in the
moonlight-no reflectors necessary! It was glorious-we were out
only about 45 min but had a great time. The horses seemed
to enjoy it too!

Sarah and "glow in the moonlight" Fling!

By the way, Teri also has a purebred stallion that is the best
mannered horse I have ever seen (she competes in driving
competitions with him). She is standing him at stud in Jackson, NJ,
if any one is interested. He is predominantly "Blue list"
with some lines to the old Crabbet. Really nice horse-I'd breed Fling
to him but then I need another horse like I need another hole in my
head! I left her card in my card but can get the address/phone number
to anyone interested.
