I am not an expert when it comes to all this but I have owned horses many,
many years and this question strikes me as strange and the answer is simple
common sense. For thousands and thousands and thousands of years horses have
been living on forage and have come to be the beast that they are today.
Their "body system" is set up for forage foods. So if you go and change that
"food" their system will react differently and not for the best. It would
take thousands of years to change the body system to run efficiently on a
different fuel.
