Horse trailer accidents

The wierd thing is that so many horses (all, in my limited experience of
horse trailer accidents) will just go right in to another trailer as if
nothing had happened. This assumes, of course, that they would load in
the first place!

Paul & I were driving to Prescott AZ one day about half a year ago.
Paul glanced in the rear view mirror just in time to see a rig we'd just
passed flip over - tail over nose! We swung a quick U-turn & got back
to find that the horse had been completely thrown from the 2-horse
trailer, which had become unhitched in spite of safety chains, sway bars
or whatever you call the things, etc. when the driver got the wheels of
the trailer over the edge of the pavement into soft dirt accidently (she
said she just looked away from the road for a moment. That's all it
takes!)

Anyway, the trailer was mashed, the horse unconscious when we got there,
but barely scratched. He got up shortly, was woozy for a while, but
when the rescue trailer came, and people were concerned about loading
the horse, I confidently assured all that he'd get right in. And he
did! (OK, I was just a teensy bit nervous about it, but everyone else
was lots more concerned, so someone had to be positive, right?)
