>On Saturday, January 23, 1999, Lincoln "Nick" Mansfield rode on ahead
>after many years being a friend of The Trail and dedication to the sport
>of endurance riding.
>Nick was one of the first five men that started out from Tahoe City on
>August 7, 1955 for the 1st 100 Miles One Day Ride conducted by the
>Western States Trail Ride. Nick went on to complete the Ride a total of
>16 time with his last completion in 1980. Nick was also the winner of
>the coveted Lloyd Tevis Cup in 1959 on his trusty mount "Buffalo Bill",
>a Thoroughbred/Morgan gelding (Buffalo Bill had eleven completions).
>Nick was, at the time of his death, a member of the Board of Governors
>of the Western States Trail Foundation and has been honored by having
>the arena at the Wendell and Inez Robie Park dedicated in his memory.
>Viewing will be Saturday, January 30th between 2 and 4 PM at the Reno
>Memorial Cremation & Burial Society, 253 East Arroyo (702.322.9200).
>Services will be 10AM, Monday, February 1 at Immaculate Conception
