Horses and the Military

Hey!  Another question for all horsey people:
In May, I'm entering the military and I am planning on buying a horse
soon,but I'm worried about the complications of owning a horse and
having to move it every three years or so.  If I am sent overseas they
will quarantine it for 6mos. and then 6mos. when I get back to the US!

I'm in need of any related experience.  Has anyone ever tried something
like this?
