Thank you guys for the help for my two questions.   I don't know what we'll
end up doing yet.  Perhaps starting out slow behind the pack would be OK.
The two horses *would* be together so that the gelding wouldn't feel as
though he were being left behind, all alone.   He definitely suffers from
the "Me catch horse - run fast syndrome".
