Re: RC: FEI courses

Unfortunately, few are willing to host an FEI ride. A regular "National" ride is
not very different from what we see in AERC and does not cost much, plus there is
often "free" help for those apprenticing as FEI officials.

The Pan Am is a MUCH bigger undertaking, requiring almost $100,000 to cover costs
alone. Since few are willing, those that are are often chosen simply because they
are the only ones who put their name in the hat...same goes for our support
personnel like Chef 'd Equip's and Vets for the World Championships.

Never knock a volunteer...NONE of these people are actually paid ANYTHING and are
lucky if they don't have out-of-pocket expenses which they will not be
compensated for.

Rumor has it that GMHA (Green Mountain Horse Assoc.) is interested in Pan Am
2001. For those who have never seen the facility...it is not only beautiful, btu
challenging. NO flat course to say the least..LOTS of hard road (dirt, not
blacktop). Yet, top riders in the East has done well here. Bottom line, a fit
horse is a fit horse.....
