Both my current horses spook when rattled at.  I don't have any problem with 
that at all.  This spring we were going down a steep, rocky hillside and 
resting in the shade of a big boulder was a rattler, he did his thing at 
Harca and Harca jumped out of the way very nicely.  I was grateful.  He's 
never had a bad experience with a snake, just the rattling noise is enough to 
startle and catch his attention.  He just "knew" he needed to get out of 
there.  No idea how.  Star seems to know as well.  This is all good because 
we have tons of rattlers around here!
