In response to Leisghsa's observation that she doesn't see many disabled
people on the trail doing 25s....disabled doesn't mean "unable".  The
people I know that are doing 25s because they can't do 50s don't WANT you
to know they can't.  My sister has diabetes and no cartilage in some of her
vertebrae.  Can make for an interesting ride if you know what happens when
your glucose is high or low.  Another friend/mentor (been riding a looooong
time, since the 70s) has debilitating back problems.  Some of these people
endure great pain to complete a 25 which I think is very admirable.  I know
of others who ride who have various reasons why they can't do 50s or 100s
and some used to be able to.  They are hardly yahoos and neither am I and I
take great exception to that.  Sometimes we make distinctions on ridecamp
between newbies and oldbies and it's all in good fun (usually).  Calling
people who ride 25 LD rides "yahoos" is not conducive to a friendly
environment.
