Well, for one thing, the reason I graduated to riding 50's was that at the
end of a 25 mile ride, I wasn't ready to call it a day. My horse still had
plenty of go and it just seemed like the best thing to do. (I was 57 when I
got my first horse, a four year old green gelding, but oh so kind and
forgiving). I made plenty of mistakes with him and it seems from what I have
been reading, could probably have avoided some of those mistakes if I had
been participating in "Ride Camp" discussions. Seven years later, I still
have that little guy along with four others. Now as for 100's. Most riders
of the 100's tell me that I will find a hundred easier than a 50 because the
pace is different. In fact many of them don't even like to ride 50's except
when no 100's are offered. I am still debating with myself as to whether I
have the mind set to give it a go. 2000 will tell.
Good luck with your first 50. You'll probably love it.
