Dorika's sesamoid injury

Well, I spent about 2 or 3 days feeling like I'd been run over by a truck,
and I seem to be coming out of it now. I went to the Arab show at the
Egyptian Agricultural Organization (the government stud at el Zahraa)
yesterday to see Jack (the vet) and some of my breeder friends. Jack and I
decided not to risk the infection at this point, but to try the most
conservative treatment. So we're pulling her shoes, decreasing feed and
buying her a TV and video so she doesn't go squirrelly for the next few
months in her box....just kidding about the TV and video. At this point her
leg hurts her so she seems pretty happy doing almost nothing. I go and
cuddle her, but my routine is completely thrown off. Rode a friend's mare
today and as nice as she was, I really missed Dory. Ten years make you
almost telepathic. So now I have passed the word that I'm definitely in the
market for a new horse, but not willing to rush into anything. We'll see
what happens. There are no for sale ads here, it's all word of mouth; and
anyone who goes out actively looking for a horse is mainly looking for
trouble. I'm sure that in a week or so I'll start getting calls about all
sorts of (mostly totally inappropriate) possibilities.
Wish me luck,

Four horses and no one to ride, sigh.
