37 year old horse

Just a quick note to clear up some misconceptions I've seen on this thread:
Athlete is extruded but meant to be fed only as a supplement- ie, no more
than 1 or 2 lbs per day. It is high fat and very palatable. Equine Senior
is a pelleted feed that does contain some of the extruded Athlete already.
It is a complete feed designed to be able to be fed without hay, though the
fiber content is a bit low to do this without creating wood chewing or even
mild volic problems in my experience. It is an excellent feed for the old
horses that have problems chewing, especially when served as a mash (water
added) as previouosly mentioned. There are a number of other good Senior
products out there, too. I like to use them with hay cubes (my favorite is
Alfalfa Maze, now back on the market, available from Ontario Dehy
1-877-289-3349), mixing the feed with the cubes, covering itwith
water-unlike Lif's experience-it takes only 5 minutes of soaking to form a
lovely wet mash.
Back to lurking. It is a bit dull without Susan and Tom to spar with!

Sarah and Fling (12 years old-why don't I get as much to eat as Charlie?)
Charlie(32 years old-I love my mush in the morning)
Folly (24 years old-I'll eat everyone's feed if you let me)
