Hi Dolly, I think sidebones are the same as ringbone. Have you had it x-rayed? Is it high or low? Did the vet say if it was articular (in the joint)? My endurance mare Dyskrete was x-rayed a couple of weeks ago for an unrelated problem and we found ringbone on the x-rays. Her's in not articular, but to increase the odds of her not having problems they have me laying her off until at least January. I am giving a series of Adequan injections (Priced like liquid gold!!) and then I need to keep her on oral Glucosamines and MSM with Vitamin C. I've also talked to my farrier, and although we have always kept her very level and her toes good and short, we will likely roll the toe on the front feet next year to ease breakover even more and may also go to some concussion preventative shoes or pads. I was talking to some farriers on the internet too on a site (I just lost all of my AOL files this week so I can't give you the exact site name) these guys were very informative too. They have bulletin boards you can post questions to... Ahh... I found it again www.horseshoes.com... give them a try... they are a wealth of knowledge Good luck.
