Hi Potato,
Be careful to take precautions for yourself and pets when disposing of
the skunk.  Skunks are the primary carriers of rabies in Northern
California and Nevada/Placer counties report among the largest number of
cases in the State.  Your region also reports most of the rabies cases
in dogs (almost always linked to the skunk strain of rabies).  The shots
for humans aren't in the stomach anymore, but they are not very pleasant
either!
