Featherlites/Excelsors

I looked at some trailers called Exciss (sp?) that I heard
had some connection with Featherlite.  These were aluminum
trailers but were poorly made (for example: sloppy welding)
and were significantly cheaper so probably not the same.
I recently bought a Sundowner 2 horse gooseneck.  I looked
at just about every brand out there before I decided, and I
concluded that Sundowners are more expensive because they
include a lot of extras as standard (like floor mats and hay
bags, among other things).  I bought a Valulite model which
is aluminum skin on a steel frame.  It has insulation
between the layers of aluminum, I haven't had it long enough
to know if water will be a problem there.  I had a steel
trailer for years with very similar insulation and no
problems with it.  This aluminum/steel combo is heavier than
an all aluminum but doesn't rattle as much in the horse
area, and it's still a lot lighter than all steel.  I love
it!  And I pull it with a Chevy 1500 regular cab short bed
V-6, no problems.
