Re: Re: new shoes

Hi Keith and Anna, One short word on the type of shoes you use on your
mule. My farrier used mule shoes on Clovis for the first 3 years of her
riding career. I hated them. Down hills on decomposed granite, grass,
asphalt, cement and rock were like E ticket rides at Disney Land. We went
slipping and sliding all over the place. I would just get off on any
slickish type surface, especially asphalt. I knew we would fall. Borium
was a joke. We now use "eventers", a rim type shoe. He reshapes them
without too much trouble and can even draw clips. A toe clip for the fronts
and 2 side clips for the rears. The shoe has a groove that runs in the
center of the shoe from heel to heel the entire length of the shoe. The
groove allows dirt to become packed in it and acts as a cushion absorbing
some of the shock and gives the shoe traction on slick surfaces. No more
skiing for Clovis n me. me
