RE: Endurance and CTR

In endurance the pace does not have to be a race! You set the pace and if
you want to go 4.3 miles per hour you can go at that rate with no penalty.
If you want to up it to 8 mph it is your decision. Just because some people
race there is no compulsion for you to do it.

Thus, CTR is no excuse, you can work for the control and obedience just as
well in doing an LD or a 50. In fact you can do better as the horse will
have the distraction of the other horses going faster and you will, of
course, keep your horse under control and go slower.

AS was saying , the emphasis on slow stable pace instead of a race is
a
better way of starting a young horse. At least for my young racer I needed
to slow down and get some control and obedience on the trail and thats what
I
like about CTR. Endurance is a race in the 25's, people are moving at an
incredible pace, at least here in Fla. One race I was at, the winner
finished in 1 3/4 hours!!!
