Batteries and HRM..

if you have a friend that also has an HRM too - simply try their
watch with your transmitter or their transmitter with your watch.
the frequencies are all the same.

you really don't need a horse to try it either - the electrodes 
work on people too.

and last - if your watch still tells time(assuming it has that
function) - you know the batteries in the watch are good. the
batteries are the same for time and HRM function.

And as an aside - since the transmitter used to come with  a
strap to use on people - when it was a Polar - you should
consider asking Roger R. what human activity that most of
his buyers checked out first to see what their pulse rate 
was in that activity...
