Without high humidity the shower probably would have helped.  But high humidity
makes it impossible for the water to evaporate.  The evaporation of the water is
what cools, not the water itself.  That's why it's best to scrape the water off,
especially when it's humid, because warm water sitting on the skin just helps
hold in the heat.  If you can keep putting water on and scraping it off it
helps, since you're getting rid of the warm water.  Does that make sense?
