    I know that most people think that we are located in a humid free 
climate.  But lets say about 3 - 4 days per week we do have the humidity.  
Because we are located about 6 miles from the Pacific Ocean we do get 
humidity.  Of course nothing as to compare with where you are located.  What 
I see as maintenance, is a free choice and we use something similar to your 
loose salt product.  It's called EqCel "VM."
    On the days we work our horse's we always feed about 1 to 1/2 electrolyte 
dose when we've returned to the ranch.  This is done in according with 
humidity, workout level, distance, heat.  This is to just assure us that we 
try and maintain a certain balanced level.  Sometimes we electrolyte out on 
the trail.  This is done for two reasons.  1. Is because we've ridden hard in 
the heat.
2. Is because we are teaching clients to administered electrolytes and 
teaching them when to administered them.
