Non-metal shoe question

Are non-metal shoes, or coated metal shoes, slippery in wet conditions? Or
do some of them provide traction?

I'm a bit confused by Dee's report that her horse's Marathon shoes worked
well in water crossings and in muddy patches, when I've read (Nancy Loving,
I think) that synthetic shoes are slippery on wet rocks, etc.
