I vote we give her a break.  I did not think by her comments that she was
using her past as crutch.  Instead, she is using it as an inspiration and
is working hard to better herself.  If she took the comments personally,
she wasn't the only one and there *are* a number of people who make
comments like "if you have to ask you can't afford," and *mean* it.  I
know, I've run across a fair number of them and they really aggravated
me.  Let's not be mean to someone over misunderstanding an e-mail
comment.
