Re: RC: RC: name that pedigree -Reply

A good majority of them ARE NOT Polish bred horses. The only one that
would qualify for that is Skowronek, but he is not pervasive in all
pedigrees of Crabbets. THe POlish horses were also not bedouin bred
horses. The Blunts of Crabbet Arabian Stud went to various parts of the
middle east and collected desert bred horses to start their breeding
program- what's left of that are the Doyle horses, numbering about 30.
Beyond that, Lady Wentworth, their daughter, brought Skowronek in from
Poland and bred him to a lot of the Blunt bred horses, producing greats
such as Rifala, Raffles, Raseyn and Raswan... among others.
Those horses plus others are pervasive in american bred horses, and that
is the one we are most familiar with- the ones used at the Kellogg stud
and others early in this century... They are renowned for their tough
qualities, great feet, great temperament, and endurance.
Hope that helps! There is a great book out there on the Crabbet Arabian
Stud by Cecil Covey who was their last stud manager I believe... the
horses are unbelievable...
