Heartcheck

That differs from ride to ride. Be sure to ask at the pre-ride meeting
about this policy. Here in the East is is common practice to allow for an
IMMEDIATE re-check.

I use the heartcheck when I take pulses...I have had riders ask for a
re-check at times. EVERY time, the stethoscope backed up the heartcheck
within a few beats.

There are those riders who abuse this priviledge...just because they think
the pulse will be LOWER......it is also common practice that the second
heart-rate be the "official" one..even if it is higher.

Most pulse people are fair (or try to be)..after all, who are they really
cheating (when it comes to endurance). If you REALLY think you have an
incorrect heart-rate reading, it is your right to ask (IMO) for a re-check.
Especially if there is a penalty for not meeting criteria.
