Heartrate

Mike Everett mareverett@abts.net
The heartrate monitors were used at the GERA ride.
At one vet check before we entered we used the stethescope
and got a pulse of 62. In the P@R check the monitor showed a
71. Then 10 seconds later a 63 and the checker said that he did not leave it on long enough to count that one. Ten seconds later he recorded a 67. Meanwhile a P@R was being taken on the other side of the horse at the same time and she recorded a 59 and ten seconds later a 60. I do not know what to think about their use in the checks!!! Seems to be very inconsistent. I think the jury is still out on their use in the P@R. Mike Everett
