Hi Lucy!
I have been using the "new" patriot now for about a month.  i am surprised at 
how comfortable it is, how secure the seat and how well it has fit several 
horses, though not all!  I had a different patriot several years ago that 
didn't fit me well at all.  now i am convinced the seat on that saddle was 
too large for me.
Two of the horses I have tried the softsteel patriot on are extremely narrow: 
 i find it rides forward on both of them, though one of them seems downhill 
to me and that may account for the saddle moving forward.  
The other four horses I have used the saddle on  had no problems with it.
