One of the top ER horses here in the UK Archemides is 22 and still winning 
race rides over 80 to 100 miles!

Current EHPS National Champion Regency prince is just getting into his 
stride at 18 . Previous retired champion sally also 16 to 18 just come back 
into work and looks brilliant. reserve EHPS champ Madoc is , I think also 
around 16 years old.

Personally I think its retirement and inactivity that kills of horses.
