Why don't we just combine finish times for the Tevis , Old Dominion, and Big
Horn.  Fastest overall time for the three 100 mile races wins the National
Championship.  These races would obviously have to be spaced far enough
apart to make this idea realistic.

When Matthew won the Tevis and Old Dominion several years ago, not to many
people could argue that he had a national champion horse.

These races are all established and would not require any money or funding
from the AERC or its members.
