Why must everything be "like the Tevis"?  Because one always needs
*something* to use as a basis for comparison.  Something established,
not lightweight (unless your are discussing lighweight things), that is
within the general knowledge pool so it is meaningful.  Tevis is an old
ride.  It is a tough ride.  And it is known worldwide.

And probably also because people who ride the Tevis or want to, tend to
compare everything to Tevis.  And we're all a bunch of bigmouths.  Lif
