Ok, here we go, the great saddle debate!  :)  I'll throw my thoughts in.
Don't use one.  It's cheaper.  :)

BUT, yes, they have endurance saddles.  Some REALLY nice ones from what I've
heard.  Course, I haven't bought one, so I can't point you to a specific
one.  I have my own ideas of what to look for when (IF!!!) the time comes
when I want a really good endurance saddle (probably 2 minutes after my
first 50), but there are others who have struggled long and hard about this
issue, so I'm SURE you'll get some excellent responses from that.

There are tons of posts in the archives about saddles.  Just doing a search
on saddle will probably keep you at your computer for the next 7 months, so
look for stuff like "OF"  "Ortho-flex" "Abetta" "great saddle debate"
"sports saddle" or "big horn"  Obviously, this is not an exhaustive list,
but you should get a fairly good sampling of posts on the saddle topic.

It's a secret.  A magical secret.  And anyone who tells will have to do it
privately or they will be flamed!

There is a ride calendar on AERC's (American Endurance Ride Conference)
website (www.aerc.org).  There are several rides in the NE region (Where NY
happens to be, I believe :) ).  I'm not aware of any actaully in NY, but
there are some in VA and PA, and OH.  Anyway, you can check the ride
calendar for sure.
