Re: THE TROT

Maggie
There is a short article in Equus magazine, September issue, page 17 on
the efficiency of the trot, and which ones the horses use when traveling
and what they prefer. In my opinion the best trot is the one the horse
likes best. All are different, some like it fast , some like it not so
fast, it depends on the horse. And the best gait is the one that a horse
can recover from in a few minutes at the vet check, :-) Dru

different portions of the course...assuming your horse has more than one
gear. Mine used to have one.....dead 'onthe forehand run' and 'dead onthe
forehand run'. Now he has a 'working trot', and 'hollow but fast huge
trot', a slow tail-dragger' trot and a nice but taxing 'dressage floating
ballerina trot'. Oh and I'm to hot to work trot that is where he bounces in
a fast walk to see if I think he's trotting.

the gears of the trot...what is the most efficient, most fun and most
successful trot on course? Thanks!
