scratches
I have FINALLY gotten rid of scratches by doing the following steps. Do
not remember if I read this off ridecamp or another equine site. I'm not
saying this is the end-all or that it is THE thing .... I'm just saying
this is what worked for me on 3 horses.
1) Thoroughly wet the leg & let water hose saturate scabs
2) Scrub scabs w/ betadine solution (try to scrub or "pick" all of the
scabs off)
3) Coat areas just scrubbed w/ nolvasan creme ointment (from the vet)
4) Then, add a human athlete's foot creme, powder or spray & kinda mix in
on leg
I only had to do this for about 3 days in a row & wha-la !
Interesting note: I have 8 horses (all but one have some white on a least
one leg). They all live together in same pasture & the 3 horses that got
the scratches were mother & 2 of her offspring ....hmmmmm
