Not to change the subject (or maybe to change the subject), but I think the
whole discussion has been really useful, especially for new riders, who
might not have thought though their tack options very carefully.  Perhaps
the best thing to come out of this event is a heightened awareness and the
possibility that future accidents might be avoided by what happened to this
rider.  It's also gonna make people look twice (despite DIMR) after an
accident occurs.
I'd been riding w/o a breast collar for training rides, and I ordered one
the day after this happened.  I'd rather use and ride with the extra gear
than find out too late that I should have been using it.
