Here's a way to get rid of the skunk without having to touch it at all -
why not burn it? Sure, it will stink to high heavens when you're burning
it, but it will be over quickly, and then it will be gone. Can you get some
water and a shovel out to the trail, and are you in a zone where this would
not be too hazardous? If you can, this may be a good choice.
