John,
I have the same problem with my saddle. In my case it's
because the saddle it a little bit too wide. I've ordered a
new saddle that fits my horse, but the saddle fitter thought
that I could make do with this one in the interim by using a
reverse wedge pad. I bought the Cashel reverse wedge that's
designed for English saddles and it works well even though
my saddle is a Western barrel saddle. I just make sure the
pad is under the tree of the saddle. I use it over a Toklat
Woolback pad (no inserts) and no longer have any dry spots.
